Literary Representation

Tony Delmedico

Literary Agent

I represent writers whose work sits at the edge of the known—books that ask not just what happened but what does it mean, and what does it ask of us. I am interested in helping publish literary non-fiction that reads with the depth and patience of good fiction: memoir, essay, cultural and spiritual inquiry, and narrative nonfiction that takes its subject and its reader into the depths. I represent contemplative writing, mythopoetic and archetypal works, and books rooted in depths of human experience—writing that draws on the mythopoetic and the long human conversation about the soul.

I’m drawn to writers who think in image as readily as argument, who trust metaphor to carry weight that argument alone can’t, and who are willing to write from the place where personal experience opens onto something larger and older than themselves.

What I Represent

Literary Non-Fiction. Memoir, essay collections, and narrative nonfiction with a distinct voice and a genuine stake in its subject.

Contemplative Writing. Books born from practice—meditation, prayer, silence, attention—that translate inner discipline into language without flattening it.

Mythopoetic Works. Writing that thinks through myth and story rather than merely about them; retellings, mythic nonfiction, and hybrid forms that treat the old stories as living material.

Archetypal & Depth Psychological Works. Books engaging Jungian and post-Jungian thought, symbolic and dream life, ritual, and the psyche’s relationship to culture, nature, and the sacred.

How I Work

I take on a small, deliberate list. My interest in a project usually starts with intuition and vision—a way of seeing that I haven’t quite encountered before—and grows from there into a genuine, respectful partnership on shaping the book, positioning it, and finding it the right home.

I represent both emerging and established writers, and I’m equally glad to hear from an academic bringing scholarship to a general audience for the first time as from a working writer with a strong platform already in place.

Submissions

I’m currently accepting queries in the categories above. Please send a query letter, a brief author bio, and the first 20 pages or a proposal to tony@tonydelmedico.com.

I read everything myself and aim to respond within three weeks. If you haven’t heard back in that window, feel free to follow up.
